Vic, who lost an arm and a leg in the horrific Rottweiler attack two years ago, has managed to get to Nyewood Lane recently to cheer on the team but is now recovering after breaking his hip while attempting to transfer from his bed to his wheelchair – a direct consequence of the life-altering injuries he sustained that day.
Bognor grandee Jack Pearce has helped to organise a bucket collection to support Vic when the Rocks host Horsham this Bank Holiday Monday. He said: “Vic is going through a very tough time and as a club we want to try to help and be as supportive as we can. If supporters can donate generously we would be ever so grateful.
“We should have a big gate for our Sussex derby against Horsham and so we are hopeful we can raise a good amount that will go to helping Vic at this time. The community has stepped up for Vic and we want to do our bit for him too.”
Vic has had tremendous support from the local community and recently been gifted a mobility vehicle and was finally starting to regain some independence. Now he is facing possible surgery and another painful hospital stay.
