The Rockettes ended this fixture with their second 1 – 1 result in a row, away to Steyning Town Community in the league, despite having the better chances and having a goal disallowed in stoppage time.
It was a livelier first half however, as Kate Delillis got her early 5th minute attempt on goal, but it was saved.
Seconds later Millie Carter’s corner fell onto the boot of Danielle Bradshaw, who was only just denied by a defender who diverted it off the goal-line, denying Bognor a certain goal.
But the hosts were strong in the first half and netted their opener thanks to a defensive slip up to shoot low and into the net on 11 minutes.
Lou Lou Robson responded with her traditional freekick bouncing just wide of the left post.
On 18 minutes it was the hosts that hit the crossbar following a swift cross.
Rhiannon Hambleton was causing problems with her running and latched onto a loose pass to find Carter on the run but she smashed her effort wide.
Then Nicole Robinson had to push out a fierce effort from the Steyning striker, who looked dangerous, particularly in the first half.
Later, on 37 minutes it was Delillis who teed up Robson, who ran across the defence before shooting narrowly wide with her left foot.
Robson then became the provider, setting up Delillis from 25 yards out but her strike was denied by the goalkeeper.
But Bognor kept pushing for the equaliser and deservedly got it just before half time.  The Rockettes surged forward with a dangerous diagonal ball from left back position and Carter pressed high to win the ball before shooting, from distance, over the head of the goalkeeper and into the net on 43 minutes.
HT 1 – 1
It was a quieter second half for both sides.  The first real chance came for Bognor on 56 minutes when Robson’s freekick was pumped into the box but Carter couldn’t get there before the Steyning stopper.
Then on 59 minutes, another freekick by Sophia Polling found the head of Robson who powerfully headed it at goal but again the goalkeeper was equal to it, frustrating Bognor.
Carter won a freekick in midfield, with the Steyning midfielder rightfully going into the book.
Then Dowdle did well to beat the defence after Delillis knocked it on, to get a shot away, but again the goalkeeper was well placed to save it.
On 76 minutes Hambleton was fouled and another yellow card was branded.  Up stepped Robson who curled the ball over the crossbar.
Robson hit a second freekick wide shortly after as time was not on Bognor’s side, when they looked more likelier to win it.
Two minutes into stoppage time it was always going to be Bognor who would score and they did so thanks to Carter with a tap in.  Bognor had thought they had won the game, but the linesman had his flag up for offside.  In the build up he deemed that Hambleton was offside, although the players argued that she did not interfere with play and it got a last touch off a defender before it went in.  After deliberations with his assistant, the referee agreed to flag it as offside.
Inside the five minutes of stoppage time it was Bognor’s captain Jade Widdowson who had the final chance, shooting from distance, but again the goalkeeper was equal to it.
The game therefore ended all square but the Rockettes remain undefeated.  They next face Hastings United away on Sunday 16th March with a 2pm kick off, hoping to keep pressure on Saltdean United Development and Aylesford in the top 3.
