Central defender Field, 28, arrived on loan at the Rocks in 2015 from Portsmouth before joining the club permanently a year later. But he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in 2020 and left the club as he focused on his recovery. He has been a mainstay at the back for Horndean for a number of seasons.

Birmingham managed Field at Five Heads Park and the co-gaffer obviously feels the assured defender has the ability and experience to bolster the bottom-of-the-table Nye Camp squad as they try to pull away from the relegation scrap.

With Tommy Block seemingly side-lined for tomorrow’s game after picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-1 loss at Horsham yesterday, there is a very real chance he could feature in the Sussex derby.
