Rocks kick-off their Isthmian premier division season on August 10 at Cheshunt and before that Blake will be eyeing a number of trialists keen to impress and join the club.

Blake is running the rule over this clutch of potential signings to put the finishing touches to his pool of players. But, as you would imagine, he has to do so within the budget set by the club; a budget for which the figure is arrived at to ensure the Rocks don’t live beyond their means.

In previous seasons, the gaffer has been helped with additional signings outside the financial constraints by the invaluable help from the 12th Man Fund. And he said: “The fund has been absolutely tremendous in making the difference to bring in players in the past and from the bottom of my heart I thank those supporters who have been able to dig deep. Thank you for your brilliant support!”

Now David Robinson, one of the administrators behind the fund, has reminded supporters that any help they can offer would be a bonus.

He said: “During the past few seasons the supporters club have been running a 12th Man Fund, where — thanks to you the fans, with your generous donations — we have raised extra funds to really help the club to get several players through the door who we otherwise might not have been able to afford. Craig Robson (pictured in the 2-0 loss at home to Pompey), Dan Gifford, Tommy Block and Dan Smith are just a few who spring to mind.

“As the Supporters’ Club continues to try to build the fund we would love more fans to join and make a small donation each month. It can be as little as £5 per month!”

To join, just call David Robinson on 07876 497929.

Meanwhile, David has revealed that the Supporters’ Club has also come up with another fund-raising initiative — and the funds raised will go into the 12th Man Fund, and ultimately to the club.

He explained: “For the coming season we are giving you the fan, the chance to become the team’s 12th man at a match of your choice. For a one-off payment of £25 you will be listed in the programme as the team’s 12th man, for the home match or indeed away match of your choice. There will be a picture profile in the home matchday programme, plus announcements during the game.

“If you choose to be the 12th Man for an away match, your details will be carried in the closest home programme. Also, for anyone that joins there will be a monthly draw for all 12th men with a suitable prize. At the end of the season presentation night there will be another draw with a signed team shirt presented to the lucky winner.

“This is a great opportunity to get behind your club, make the difference – be the 12th man!”
